Estonian Zither Workshop

The small Estonian zither, the history of which probably dates back to a few thousand years, has won the hearts of even the most contemporary music lovers with its beautiful and clear yet modest sound. Every year many unique instruments are made by the hands of or according to the guidance of masterful zither-making craftsmen, some of which will also find their ways to Seto Folk.

Sunday morning invites all kids to come and get comfortable at the Threshing Barn of the Seto Farm Museum, in order to charm out some nice tunes and harmonies from the zither strings. It will be a rather calm and quiet yet interesting and educating Sunday morning, that is for sure.

The workshop is led by Meeli Härmson, the piano, zither and solfeggio teacher and the instructor of the zither ensemble of the Värska Music School. The workshop is designated specifically for kids, the earlier one (at 11:00) for smaller and the later one (at 11:30) for the bigger ones.

Since this workshop requires active participation, the number of participants is limited and pre-registration at the Children Area is required. However, a place at the workshop can be guaranteed by bringing your own instrument to the workshop.
