Piret Päär & Toomas Valk

The storyteller Piret Päär has told stories for more than 20 years. She is the director of the Storytelling School of the Folk Culture Center and organises the storytelling festival „Jutupühad“. She says about stories and storytelling: „I like to listen to stories. I search for them with my eyes, my ears and my heart. I can´t last for very long without a good story. But a good story needs to be told right after hearing it …”.
Piret gathers stories as a bee gathers nectar and they stick to her just like pollen sticks to the bees. She collects and pollinates the nectar of words, processing it within herself into a unique story honey that she then lives and breathes. But don’t worry, there is plenty left for those who want to listen as well.

This time at Seto Folk, Piret´s stories are alternated with the renowned local accordionist, a five-time Seto Kingdom master, Toomas Valk. Toomas knows many tunes from Setomaa and elsewhere but for this storytelling event, he has chosen only the ones that really make one´s soul sing along.
